About Congress

MARMARA UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION
5th INTERNATIONAL MARMARA GRADUATE COMMUNICATION STUDENTS CONGRESS (MILEF-5)

4–5 May 2026 – Göztepe Campus, Kadıköy, Istanbul

Artificial Intelligence and Our Future: Family, Children, and Society

In an era in which digital technologies—particularly artificial intelligence (AI) applications—are rapidly permeating all domains of everyday life, how individuals, families, and societies will adapt to this transformation has become an increasingly critical area of debate. The field of media and communication is among the disciplines most profoundly affected by these developments. In this context, examining the impacts of AI across a broad spectrum—from family structures and child wellbeing to ethical values and societal resilience—necessitates new theoretical, methodological, and practical approaches within communication studies.

With the aim of making visible and supporting the contribution of postgraduate research to academic knowledge production, the Marmara Postgraduate Communication Students Congress will be convened once again on 4–5 May 2026, encouraging and opening to deliberation new research that foregrounds the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Our Future: Family, Children, and Society” from the perspectives of multiple disciplines within the social sciences and humanities, with a particular emphasis on media and communication studies. The Congress seeks to develop postgraduate students’ capacities for intellectual inquiry, academic writing, presentation, and critical discussion, while providing an open platform for all postgraduate students who aspire to contribute new insights to the field of communication.

First held as a symposium in 2014, organized as a national congress in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and expanded to an international level in 2025 under the coordination of the Academic Development Coordinatorship, the Marmara Postgraduate Communication Students Congress welcomes applications from all emerging scholars conducting postgraduate research in the social sciences and humanities. In addition, as the host institution, fourth-year undergraduate students of the Marmara University Faculty of Communication may also apply. The Congress will be held in a hybrid format, both in-person and online via Zoom.

Abstracts and full papers must be submitted via the MILEF-5 APPLICATION FORM.
